Choosing A Color Palette For Your Home

The typical home owner is often at a loss on how to achieve the perfect color decoration for their homes. Model homes can provide you with one of the greatest sources of inspiration for your home decoration options. Model homes use appropriate color schemes that creates a warm, feel-good flow that is felt throughout the house. Of course, some might argue that models homes are not common-place, and so should not be relied on because they are not real life. That is beside the point. The point here is that any proud home owner would want to decorate their home using colors that flawlessly connect one room to another. The key to achieving this lies in creating a whole home color palette.

Many home owners are faced with three main challenges when deciding on how best to decorate their homes: where to start, the color to use, and inability to choose from the raft of choices available. These challenges can easily be countered by creating an appropriate color palette for the whole home. Here is a guide on how go about this.

How do you recreate a color palette for the entire home?

1. Decide on the Colors to Use.

Entire Color Palette

The choice of colors for your home decoration is entirely at your disposal as the home owner. It is advisable that you stick to 3-5 colors in creating the color palette. Pick on your favorite colors first, as this will help you enhance the “aura of beauty’’ that you create in each room. If you are not a big fan of colors, you can opt to start with darker shades as they are more demure. However, if you have a great passion for colors, remember to restrict yourself to only 3 or 4 of them – do not go overboard.

2. Decide on the Feel You Want to Create

The room can be made to feel cool and calm, warm and vibrant, or a lively contrast of mixed feelings. Your choice of color for the color palette will help you achieve your desired feel. A lot can be achieved by using monochromatic colors, or even by choosing a harmonious color scheme. If you are still not sure about the kind of feel you want to create on your space, consult Mother Nature. Mother Nature has a great way of playing with colors to create different moods in the environment.

3. Work within Your Budget.

The largest percentage of homeowners has a limited budget within which they have to operate as they look at their home decoration options. You can still make a good job of it if you decide to use the already existing color undertones in your home. Be observant on the colors of your floor, ceiling, furniture, etc. This will help you to decide on the base color, and you can augment this to create a color palette that is well within your budget.

How do you choose the colors for the Color Palette?

As discussed above, it is recommended that you choose 3-5 colors for your color palette. Here is a suggestion on how to go about this:

1. Choose a White

The white that you choose should reflect the undertones of your closets, doors, furniture and cabinets. Be keen as you choose the white because not all whites are of the same hue. They often have different subtle undertones that can create a lot of discrepancies if you do not pay keen attention to them.

A white can be used to develop the desired color scheme. For example, to create a complementary color scheme entails using a white that has some blue in it; while a harmonious color scheme can be created by using a white that has some yellow in it.

2. Choose a Neutral

A neutral color is one that has a very subtle shade of a color. Contrary to popular misconception, a neutral is not beige or tan. It is usually created by blending two other colors to create a demure color that will be appropriate for hallways and the walls on open rooms.

3. Choose a Saturated Color

The saturated color is the main color of the color palette. It forms the base upon which all the other colors are laid. It is therefore advisable that you settle on your favorite color, or at least a color that you love, as your choice for saturated color.

Home owners with a passion for colors will find choosing a saturated color a fairly easy thing to do. Conversely, even those who are not so passionate about colors can still find it easy to come up with an appropriate saturated color. All they need to do is to settle on the appropriate variation of their chosen color.

4. Choose Another Color

Your choice of the fourth color will depend on the color scheme you would like to achieve.

a. A harmonious color scheme would require that you pick the color adjacent to color 3 on the color wheel. It is ok to vary the intensity of these two colors.

b. A complementary color scheme entails that you choose a color that is directly across color 3 on the wheel.

c. Picking on a lighter shade of color 3 will give you a monochromatic color scheme.

5. Choose an Accent Color

The Accent Color can be used as the main color in some spaces, while being used as the accent color in others. This makes your rooms look more interesting as you walk around the house. Choose the appropriate accent color with this in mind.

The above suggestions are just that –suggestions that you as a home owner can use to create your own unique color palette for your whole home. You can try further variations to create different effects – lighten or darken some shades and see how it turns out. You do not have to stick to the exact colors mentioned in this article – what you need is to grasp the concept. Challenge yourself to try a different kind mix. It will be fun, and you may be pleasantly surprised by the results. At the end of the day, it is about how you feel with the entire effect that you create for your home. One thing you can be sure of is that your unique style will transform itself and become better over time.

Simple methods to change to fall decor

I have to admit, each year I’m a little torn. We don’t live in a climate where fall strike us as shockingly as other cities, therefore; going out with the fall decor seems slightly different. However, I do like changing up my decor to match the season and alternate things up slightly. In the same way I stated the other day, I used to allow the colors of the climate define my color options, while in practical they do not often suit my style hence I planned this year to maintain with the blues however do them in slightly different method.

The objective was to remain with my current color palette, however do those in a method which felt a little less expensive. I boiled it down to three simple tips that you can take to shift your home decor from a summery feel into a fall feel.

1. Alternate the accent color to a saturated color.

You may think my family room revived from the past spring. I availed pops of pink and yellow like may accent colors, that were fun and actually ideal for the summer and spring months. Dark colors seemed slightly cosier.

Why a saturated color?

The dark blue is effective with the present lighter blue due to the reason it is in the similar color family. This make sure that the color palette create sense and offers the room very calm feeling due to the reason today rather than getting the contracting color pop, the room is regarded highly monochromatic.

2. Include more texture:

Cold climate refers it is time to cosy up and include pillows, has with number of soft textures is an ideal method to get decor which suits the season, however is actually useful and comfortable. There were number of throws and soft furry pillows to select from in the cold climate collection. One of the best methods to include certain textures is with baskets and a beautiful big one is best for throwing blankets in on sofa. The advantage is you do not want to fold them.

3. Include more metallics:

The gold pillows may be the desired thing in the space. They possess simply sufficient texture and are metallic. They are soft; you can put the head on them also.
